As Jesus approached Jerusalem with His disciples, He sent two of them on ahead. In order to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet, Jesus told them to bring a colt to Him. God has told us to “be joyful always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances” (1 Th 5:16–18). To give thanks in all circumstances means to be always thankful, no matter what the circumstance—good or bad, easy or difficult. When God tells us to give thanks for everything, there must be a reason we should be thankful. We are always receiving abundant love from God. What would happen to the world if there were no people who were called and sent by God? God wants us to have faith. Faith never comes without knowing God properly. It was the same with the ancestors of faith. Only after understanding God correctly did they start to have true faith. In Korea, you can sometimes see the expression, “The National Assembly in a vegetative state,” on the newspaper. It is a sarcastic expression indicating the National Assembly which causes a high social cost without doing its duty. God Almighty governs life, death, fortune and misfortune of all human beings. He blesses those who obey His word and punishes those who do not. Blessings are promised for those who make God their treasure and follow all of His teachings (Dt 30:15–16; Job 22:21–28).
