Words of the Bible

The Bible enables us to be wise for salvation (2 Ti 3:15). Let us learn the true will of God from it.

The Vast Universe, Another World

When we see a view or scenery that we don’t see that often, we cannot help but exclaim. When we see something new and beautiful, we feel like our minds and bodies are recharged. We can blow away stress and boredom from our repeated daily life, seeing a different world. This is why we go on a trip. This must be the reason people climb up the mountain although it is not easy and want to see auroras in the cold polar regions. However, there is something that stirs the hearts of people even more than this scenery of the earth—the universe. The universe where light and darkness coexist is a space of creation where new things are made, and…

What We Are Waiting for

There are times of waiting that the people of faith must go through until they receive the promised blessings. They wait for the coming of God and for the delight which they will enjoy forever in the everlasting kingdom of heaven. They also wait for the Last Judgment Day when their enemy the devil will be judged, and for the glorious day when the following prophecy will come true: “Those who have fallen asleep in faith will be raised from the dead. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be changed and meet God in the air.” Waiting requires endurance and preparation as well. Let’s take some time to think about what we must wait for…

Whether They Will Follow My Instructions

After coming out of Egypt, the whole Israelite community started grumbling against Moses and Aaron as they ran out of food. “If only we had died by God’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death!” Then God spoke to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions.” That evening quail came and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer…

Be the Ones Who Know the Value

We can see a scene from the Bible where Gideon's 300 warriors defeated 135,000 Midianites (Judges 7). When God was about to choose His warriors, 32,000 men gathered to fight at first. Although all of them were called to the battle against the Midianites, it was only 300 men who passed all of God's tests and remained God's warriors to the end. They were the ones who knew the value of being the members of God's army. If they had not known the value of God's chosen warriors, they would not have tried so hard to go out into battle where they could die. 300 chosen men knew what was truly valuable; they were the most valuable people of the…

Christ Ahnsahnghong Who Has Brought Us the Tree of Life

God has given mankind the Bible in order to ultimately save their souls. Through the Bible, we must meet God our Savior. The Bible contains many parables. Among them, the history of the Garden of Eden in the book of Genesis shows us how men committed sin in heaven and were cast down to the earth. If we realize the true meaning hidden in this parable, we will be able to break the chain of death that binds us. The Bible says that there are two kinds of people: those who are given the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, and those who are not (Mt 13:10-16). Those who are given the knowledge of the secrets are…

The Gifts of God

What if we receive numerous good gifts from God every day while living in this world? Whenever we get a gift from God, we will always be happy and grateful as well. In fact, God gives us a gift every moment, every day. However, since we cannot tell if it is a gift, we sometimes fail to be thankful and instead we grumble or complain, so that we cannot give glory to God. A hardship that befalls us is a gift from God, and something joyful is also a gift from God. Our family and neighbors and so many people we meet are all gifts from God. Even a trial we may sometimes encounter is actually a gift from God.…

Prayer for World Peace

Now many lives are being sacrificed in wars and terrorist attacks on one side of the earth, and on the other side of the earth various infectious diseases are emerging and spreading throughout the world. However, even though disasters are so rampant in these days, God protects and comforts us, His children, just as Jesus said, "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed" (Mt 24:6). We give thanks to God for His grace. Now, the gospel is being preached to the whole world. Even though a disaster occurs in a remote country, we cannot remain indifferent to it anymore. Mother told us to pray for world peace, caring not…

The Tabernacle

1. The Ten Commandments and the tabernacle When Moses received the tablets of stone inscribed with the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai, God showed him the tabernacle in heaven. As Moses came down from the mountain, he delivered the words of God to the people of Israel. There was a need to build a tabernacle where the tablets of the Ten Commandments would be kept. So Moses called on the people to gather materials to make the tabernacle, such as gold, silver, linen and cotton. The people brought freewill offerings every day, and the materials gathered to build the tabernacle were more than enough for all the work which had to be done, so Moses told them not to bring…

Melchizedek and Christ

The 66 books of the Bible contain many mysteries of God. When we figure out the mysteries one after another, we are able to understand God's long-term plan for our salvation. Among God's mysteries, the greatest mystery is Christ. Only when we realize Christ who is the mystery of God, we are able to receive the blessing of salvation and find all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden in Him (Col 2:2-3). The Bible, which gives us the wisdom leading to salvation, testifies about Christ who is the mystery of God (2 Ti 3:15-17; Jn 5:39). Among the many mysteries of the Bible, let's study the prophecies about Melchizedek so that we can understand Christ who is the source…

The Value of the New Name

Receiving God means believing in His name (Jn 1:12). We, who are in Zion, already know the name of God―the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. We've received the Christ who has come in the new name and become witnesses testifying to the new name, the Savior's name in the age of the Holy Spirit. We pray in the new name and praise the new name; we've been saved by believing in the new name. God's name has great power in the spiritual world. Now, let's consider how great the new name, the Savior's name in the age of the Holy Spirit, is, how valuable the name of His Bride, the new Jerusalem…

What Kind of God Is Your God?

In this harvest age, the work of going to Samaria and the ends of the earth, making disciples of all nations and preaching the gospel to them is now being accomplished quickly according to the prophecy. Consequently, God allows us to spread the gracious fragrance of Zion all the more. Today, many people claim to believe in God, but in actuality they believe in a different god than the God whom the Bible preaches. Nevertheless, they think that they believe in the true God, so they ask the members of Zion who preach the gospel, “What kind of God is your God?” As God’s witnesses, we should let them know why our God is the only true God. God is…

The Honey Bee, the Hidden Keeper of Ecosystem

“If the bees become extinct, humans too will go extinct within four years.” This is a famous quote usually attributed to Albert Einstein. The honey bee is known as a beneficial insect that collects honey. This yellow-and-brown striped insect has a stinger and so it may not be easy for you to come close to it. What is this little creature, that it is closely related to the survival of mankind? Honey bees live in a hexagonal honeycomb. Generally, a colony consists of one queen bee and tens of thousands of other bees, most of which are worker bees that are female. Worker bees do almost all important jobs; they gather food such as honey and pollen, build comb cells,…

How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?

Joseph, who was sold as a slave by his jealous brothers, starts to serve at the house of Potiphar, the captain of the guard in Egypt. God is with Joseph and he prospers. Potiphar sees that, and makes Joseph his attendant; he puts Joseph in charge of his household and entrusts to his care everything he owns. So, God blesses the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. Joseph is faithfully taking care of his master’s family. One day, however, he faces trouble. Potiphar’s wife takes notice of Joseph and keeps speaking to him. But Joseph refuses, saying, “How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” After his refusal, Potiphar’s wife gets angry and calls…
